Spring-time brings to mind light and airy things like lemon chiffon. Chiffon be it in fabric or in pastry is used to describe anything silky, soft, billowy and delicate. And of course, lemon in all its many varieties is crisp, aromatic and refreshing.

These qualities are what Caryl B has achieved in the lemon soufflé face exfoliant/mask, which is now on sale during spring time.

Founder/skin-care product professional Caryl Brandes took a moment to explain why ingredients like lemon are important. “Feel on the skin and fragrance are always an important part of my products,” she said.

“The description ‘soufflé’ — refers to the texture,” added Brandes. “This product has a light feel rather than just a thick texture.” Used for centuries, lemon has always been known for it’s health benefits. It’s naturally astringent ability has also been noted for skin as well as cleansing abilities.

Dermatology specialist, Dr. Debra Jaliman, MD who knows well the properties of lemon in skin products said. “Lemon oil is extracted from the lemon peel. It can kill bacteria (as an anti- microbial),” she said. “So, it’s very good when used in toners and astringents.”

For more than a decade, Brandes has strived to make skincare and personal care products that are of highest quality and gentle to skin.

It was because of skin sensitivity that Brandes made her specialty line of products. With more than seven layers of skin on the human body, exfoliating is crucial in maintaining a healthy complexion. “Exfoliant refers to the benefits — removes dead skin cells,” said Brandes. “Yet, because of other added moisturizing ingredients, (like jojoba and Aloe Vera) my lemon soufflé leaves your skin nourished,” Brandes said.

Knowing of the more than 30 different varieties of lemons throughout the world, Brandes is pleased that lemon is still popular and held in high regard.

Dr. Jaliman points out that… “Especially for people with acne prone skin,” lemon is a good choice.

In addition to the lemon soufflé, Caryl B offers Seville Orange, Sweet Orange and Rosemary creams, lotions & soaps. When asked if there will be an expansion of the lemon soufflé product Brandes said. “right now I have no more products that will be in the lemon or orange category.”

Yet, understanding the current popularity of lemon and Brandes’ ever-striving commitment to understated luxury, high quality and excellence it probably won’t be long before Caryl B presents another citrus-inspired lotion, soap or cream.
