If you use the hello kitty logo within a bigger circle, you’ll notice the one in the circle’s alignment is off, the mass of the icon falls lower into the circle and it looks worse.

The core idea should be to get as much negative space on both sides of your icon or logo.

Thats why the triangle in the circle works. Take for example a thinner triangle witch is as tall as the circle but half its width… Insert it into the circle and you wind up with a triangle touching the top and bottom part of the circle and the right side of the circle.

The entire left side of the circle is left blank.
