St John Chrysostom’s Invitation to the Liberal Vineyard

It’s easy for liberals to get into wherewereyouery.

Arguably, it even has its place.

But to those who have finally woken up to the importance of civil liberties, under the regimes of Trump and May, the words of St John Chrysostom will ring true:

If any have toiled from the first hour,
let them receive their due reward;
If any have come after the third hour,
let him with gratitude join in the Feast!
And he that arrived after the sixth hour,
let him not doubt; for he too shall sustain no loss.
And if any delayed until the ninth hour,
let him not hesitate; but let him come too.
And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour,
let him not be afraid by reason of his delay.
For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first.
He gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour,
as well as to him that toiled from the first.

Come as you are!

Let not the elder son be puffed up in his arrogance.

And let not the younger son be fearful in his presumption.

Let the daughters of the sun stretch forth the hand of friendship.

Let the daughters of the moon go forth in abundant joy.

And let our precious family be full of joy, and peace, and let us never once be slack in vigilance, nor dash our feet upon a stone.
