Starting again without starting over.

A new venture, new business partners, and taking ResIM from here.

Halfway through and this is shaping up to be one of the best years on record for ResIM. Financially, team-wise, and with respect to the kind of work we’re doing, everything points to a fantastic 2014. This success comes on the heels of a 2013 that saw a number of staffing changes and lower-than-expected sales.

2013 was also the year where Andrew Procter and Jon Rundle, two senior members of the ResIM team, approached me with an ambitious goal. ‘We want to start a small iOS-only development shop and would like you to join us.’ I wasn’t at all interested in leaving ResIM behind and jumping when I still had work to do. I’m not even close to done here. I also didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to continue working with Andrew and Jon. The only option that appealed to me was a scenario where both ventures could exist and compliment one another.

A number of meetings, conversations, and emails later I find myself a partner in Treble and the sole owner of ResIM. This transition was about as smooth as one could hope for and leaves me in a position where I have two incredible teams to work with and the potential to be part of exciting projects that are produced for clients and as internal products.

I’m as excited about the future of Treble as I am the future of ResIM. Helping build a company from the ground up while supporting the growth of another that’s more mature is going to be a challenge…but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

To my team at ResIM: Geoff, Stephanie, Chelsey, Rachel, Kristina, James, Kyle, Maxim, Mark, Jason and Juan: As I’ve said before, change is the only constant you can expect in business and in life. I’m here to help lead us through any changes that present themselves along the way. We’re an incredibly strong team and will only grow stronger as the successes continue to mount. You should all be very proud of your contributions and know that I have a deep respect for what each of you bring to the team. Oh, and hold on…because we’re just getting started!

To Andrew and Jon: To think you could convince me to join you in a new venture either means you’re crazy or you have an appreciation for my desire to take on new challenges. It’s likely a bit of both. I’m humbled that you value my contributions enough to bring me a long for the ride. This won’t be an easy path, but as they say, smooth seas don’t make good sailors.

Stay tuned…
