It’s Not About Race!

I’m Jewish, which is nothing like being black. But, only because I can choose to blend in. As a child I used to think a lot of the same things you write about. But I wasn’t “branded,” because I didn’t have to wear a yarmulke, and I could dress like everyone else. Even so, believe it or not, I do understand.

Had it been fifty years earlier on another continent I might have had a yellow Star of David pinned to my shirt before they marched me to the gas chamber. I wish I knew what to do about it, but I don’t. It’s why I joined The Navy. On an individual level, success is the best medicine. Be the best human being you can be. Regardless of culture. And dare everyone to match you!
