They were born into poverty and can’t break out of the cycle on their own.
I’ll say the same thing here that I said in response to a comment on one of my previous posts: It…

So we’ve arrived at the fundamental argument that conservatives and leftists have.

Conservatives fundamentally believe that people have free will, that they can and should make good decisions and live with the consequences of their actions.

Leftists fundamentally believe that people are just these animal-like automotons that are incapable of making good decisions on thier own. That we need a big government to redistribute the wealth, property and resources of the more successful to pay for the bad decisions of the less successful.

I understand your position but there’s just no data to support it. It’s just your feelings, well I feel like I would like some ice cream but that doesn’t mean that it’s the governments duty to deliver me some rocky road.

Anytime that a thorough meta analysis of the effects and economics of the welfare state is done is shows that it tremendously snuffs out human potential and — more to your point — that poverty results from bad decisions NOT that bad life decisions must result from poverty.

This is classic bigotry of low expectations.
