The Journey: Anger

“Speak when you are angry — and you’ll make the best speech you’ll ever regret.” -Laurence J. Peter
#thursdaythoughts going back to the dustbin of history aka Facebook’s On this Day. Well, kinda, I took this pic about two years ago. I figured best to post something summery and serene like the ocean with it being the “official” end of summer and Labor Day this weekend.
I did feel a bit less of an edge (less humidity) but it was still really hot today, we should enjoy it while it lasts as we’ll be complaining about how cold it is pretty soon.
But the heat, particularly standing in the subway did get me thinking about anger (and how when it’s that hot we get so much more irritable). I know the heat sometimes leads me to make decisions I later regret. Anger is just another manifestation of fear, and it takes many forms, frustration is one of them, depression is another (anger turned on ourselves). I know with myself that fear manifests itself as anger. Though I have an excess amount of energy which prob fuels some of that (hence why I work out so much) 😡
I also think there are some benefits, such as motivation to propel us forward, that anger supplies. But I also think you’re messing with the Dark Side when you’re tapping that evolutionary reserve. As we see, uncontrollable anger and rage have very negative consequences. Without getting on a soapbox we would do much better as a society to acknowledge and accept this fundamental part of our being. Why would fear, and anger last millions of evolutionary years if they were not useful? 🤔 it’s just about finding positive and constructive ways to channel it 💥
Last few posts were long, so I wanted to keep this one shorter. Stay cool ppl 😎
