Dear EG,
You are dear because you have chosen and accepted the responsibility of caring. Not just the care of others but…you know.
A teenage girl who put her hand inside the chute of a lawnmower,
A friend who was violently ill while battling leukemia,
Three teenage girls driving in a pickup who played chicken with a locomotive and lost. One went through the windshield and landed a on said behemoth, another squished under the dash, the driver impaled by the steering column (before airbags were mandatory). I remember digging plastic bits out of the chest wound. None of them died but would never have a life to speak of,
A head on collision between a drunk driver and Mom, her son and nine small children on their way to the zoo. Everyone but the Mom came through OK (including the drunken bastard) except the mother was critical. She had severe facial injuries and extremities broken. I reassured her (as she tried to communicate with a broken jaw and blown out eye socket) that everyone was going to be fine. I made her believe me all while they were sending her son to the OR for internal injuries. At that moment SHE really needed to be cared for.
You will know what to do instinctively, but only you know you. You have my respect. Be safe.
