So This One Time

So this one time I’m in school
I said somethin’ ‘ bout your mother
Well he just smiled and left a while
And came back with his brother
And I didn’t know his brother
But when I saw him I felt sad
Because we were still in middle school
And he was bigger than my dad

Now I’m not one to run
You should know I’ll stand my ground
I just don’t think that runnin’s fun
And don’t believe in backin’ down …
But as I stood there buyin’ time
I thought, “This fight’s as good as done.”
And found I’d had a change of heart
Turns out I love to run!

So I was out! Gone!
Never was there!
I’ll never even know
If they chased or stared
I don’t mind losin’
But I didn’t have a prayer
So I was out! Gone!
Never was there!

So this one time I’m surrounded
Same no good reason fight
I had some guys all fired up
For whatever reason that night
First I saw that they were smiling
Then I saw how many they had
And I went from feelin’ like Ali
To feelin’ pretty sad

Now I’m not one to run
You should know I’ll stand my ground
I just don’t think that runnin’s fun
And don’t believe in backin’ down …
But as I stood there buyin’ time
I thought, “This fight is good as done.”
And found I’d had a change of heart
Turns out I love to run!

So I was out! Gone!
Never was there!
I’ll never even know
If they chased or stared
I don’t mind losin’
But I didn’t have a prayer
So I was out! Gone!
Never was there!

So this one time I’m in traffic
Some jerk had cut in front of me
Oh I did my best to count to ten
But I only got to three
I let loose a slew of words
All of which were pretty bad
He smiled and reached below his seat
And that’s when I felt sad

Now I’m not one to run
You should know I’ll stand my ground
I just don’t think that runnin’s fun
And don’t believe in backin’ down …
Normally I’d have bought some time
But I needed quick a plan
And found I’d had a change of heart
Now catch me if you can!

And I was out! Gone!
Never was there!
I’ll never even know
If he chased or stared
I don’t mind losin’
But I didn’t have a prayer
So I was out! Gone!
Never was there!

So this one time walkin’ down the street
Some thug confronted me
And I was gonna make him sorry
That he ever hunted me
I let loose a canon right
That didn’t even make him mad
He just laughed and smiled at me
And that’s when I felt sad

Now I’m not one to run
You should know I’ll stand my ground
I just don’t think that runnin’s fun
And don’t believe in backin’ down …
He was right there where I wanted
While buyin’ time I scoffed
And found I’d had a change of heart
So that’s when I took off!

And I was out! Gone!
Never was there!
I’ll never even know
If he chased or stared
I don’t mind losin’
But I didn’t have a prayer
So I was out! Gone!
Never was there!

Now I’m not one to run
Next time I’ll stand my ground
I just don’t think that runnin’s fun
And don’t believe in backin’ down …
