I can’t speak for American techies but, here in the UK’s tech companies, every new shooting’s greeted with a kind of resigned horror. And it’s not forgotten, and it’s not buried in silence.

Yes, we’re mostly white. Yes, we’re mostly male. (And, yes, we’re trying to do something about that, but we can’t force non-whites and non-males to take technical degrees, only try to ease that path.)

But what I’m working up to say, I guess, is this: we stand with you. We understand (so much as we can) and sympathise with your pain. You are not alone, and you are not friendless.
