One BIG Reason Why the Transgender Ban is Needed

This Answer Might Surprise You…
…OH WAIT, THERE ISN’T ONE. SURPRISE!!!
I’m absolutely serious. There is no valid reason to adopt a policy that is so offensively discriminatory as to prohibit “transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military”. Via Twitter. I woke up and smelled covfefe this morning and let me tell you, it smells like a stinking pile of bigotry. All that being said, valid is the operative word. There actually is a strategic reason for the action being taken by the Trump administration.
In 2016, 19 states considered legislation that was meant to address the controversial transgender bathroom issue. In 2017, at least 10 states are set to pursue this. This is simply a thinly veiled attempt to indirectly accrue support among the Conservative base and put pressure on more moderate Republican legislators. 45 has made no secret of the fact that he plans to endorse a number of candidates to unseat GOP incumbents and consolidate power in the Senate. However, there are a few problems in this particular approach.
As a Combat Veteran, I Can Attest to a Few Things

I don’t know which “Generals” and “Military Experts” Trump is claiming to have deliberated with, because his Secretary of Defense James Mattis (not exactly known for deceptive sophistry) is on record discussing the repeal of the archaic “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy saying the following:
“…asked later by Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) whether there’s anything innate about being a woman or identifying as LGBT that would prevent someone from serving in a lethal force, Mattis flatly said, “No.””

See this article from The Hill.
As a combat veteran, I can attest to a few things not least of which, how this will be received by the average military professional. The military is a unique society, and in many ways it is an experimental microcosm of social engineering, I’ll refrain from exploring that at length for the time being, but trust me. It’s fascinating. What I will say, is that the military is the most inclusive and yet closed-minded community you will likely ever encounter. There are no identities other than high performers, average performers, and low performers — an almost* pure meritocracy. The only request of the military servicemembers is that the attainment of merit be an equal process, not an equitable one.
In an effort to disguise bad social policy (Libertarians should be screaming ‘too much government interference’) Trump has claimed that the basis for his new Twitter edict is to reduce ‘tremendous medical costs’. Let that sink in for a moment. Good yet? Here’s a graphic to illustrate the tremendous impact this has:

Who is actually surprised at this point though? Well, apart from the heads of each branch of service and apparently the entire legislature, of course. While we’re thinking about burdensome medical costs, how about that Affordable Care Act? Sending insured people to primary care physicians instead of an ER is so much cheaper than — wait, what? You want to repeal the ACA, with NO replacement agreed upon?
“Trump is not making an economical decision”
The Takeaway
I could go on for a long time about this issue from many perspectives, but what you need to take away from this is that Trump is not making an economical decision, he is using transgender servicemembers — several of whom are overseas wearing the U.S. flag on their right shoulders, protecting us from threats that most lifelong civilians would struggle to imagine — those are the same servicemembers that Trump is using as political pawns.
If you haven’t caught on yet. I’m a man of many hats, I’m also a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom. Here is a list of nations known to allow transgender people to serve in the military: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden and you guessed it, the U.K.
Finally, I want to leave you with a video of what happened when a reporter tried to get clarification on Trump’s decree-via-Twitter.
President Donald Trump called a reporter in attendance at the White House “very rude” for asking about banning transgender people from the military. While addressing a group from the American Legion, an off-camera woman shouted, “How did you decide your policy on transgender people in the military?” Shaking his head, Trump looked at the woman, looked away, and said, “She’s very rude.”
