God's Light

God's light surrounds us
It's always there
Whether we choose to accept it or not

The ego lies to us
Tells us that we are our mistakes
That we can't change the past
That we can't change who we are
That it's too late

The truth is that for the soul
there is no past
There is no future
There is only the present

The dark grip of the past.
Can be slipped in an instant
It has no more hold on us
Than our beliefs allow

That's the trick, isn't it?
How can we escape our own beliefs?

By understanding these truths
Our beliefs are created by our experiences
And how we interpret them

You can't change the past
But you can change how you interpret it

This isn't about being in denial
Of being blindly forgiving
It's about looking at every situation as if
It has a purpose
A meaning
Which, of course, it does.

God reaches down and moves people and creates short plays
To create situations
For learning
For healing
For purposes beyond our ken

Sometimes you get caught up in an act of that play
Maybe the act is designed for you
Maybe it's intended for someone else
And God needs you to be a supporting character

Those of us who do not understand that
God moves through all of us
Whether we ask it or not
Get confused and upset
“Why me? What did I do to deserve this? It's not fair!”

The path to spiritual peace and happiness
Is in accepting that you are a player
And that if a situation presents itself to you
That you feel any strong emotion to
That you feel a connection to
That you feel drawn to
Then you have something to learn
Or to teach

When you accept that there are no random events
That you are where you are supposed to be
That you are already doing what you are supposed to do
Then it becomes easier to accept your situation

And to let go of the outcomes that you think should be
And delight in the truths that you can take away.
And look forward in anticipation do what is next

Rather than deny the learning
And see the situation continue to present itself
In different forms, with different players,
Until you integrate the learning

You can release your past in the same way
Why was I drawn to this?
Why can't I let it go?
What do I still need from this person?
How has this situation repeated itself with others playing this role?

As you begin to see the connections between the players
You will start to see the lessons that were presented
And when you understand and accept the lesson
You will slip the grip of the situation or the person
And feel a huge weight lift from your soul

God never intended for us to live in shame or in pain of the past
We did this to ourselves
And will continue to live in pain
Until we open ourselves to God
And to serve with willingness and love
Which is what Free Will is all about

You just need declare your choice every day
That you will serve and trust
And open yourself to listen
To the subtle conversation that is already there.

If you need to sit in the dark a while longer,
It's ok.

God will wait for you. As always.
