My neighbor and good friend Jason Schultz has been pouring through our local “History Room” archives to learn more about early Anaheim. Recently he came upon two articles from 1923 regarding a Multiple Listing “System” that would be a precursor to the “MLS” of today. Scan and full text below.
These articles are not only a reminder that the MLS isn’t that old, but simply cooperating with other agents to sell a single listing is a concept that has been in practice for just 100 odd years (depending on where you live).
I’m also amused by this line:
So, we sold Diverse Solutions for a second time, but this time I had to say goodbye. Diverse Solutions is small real estate tech company founded in 2005. I was the first employee. It’s been eleven years but it feels like we founded DS yesterday.
I’ve been asked more than a few times how I “feel” about selling Diverse Solutions. Well, this isn’t a sunset, Diverse Solutions will live on. So, for me, saying goodbye is less of a lamentation and more of a proud salute.
