One reference I first read I was going off of stated “proof of success is dismissed as luck, timing or as a result of deceiving others into thinking they are more intelligent and competent than they believe themselves to be”.

Implying that it may be that they don’t think others are necessarily better, but it’s more about how someone perceives themselves.

Part of my impostor syndrome is probably that I misinterpret things a lot anyway, so I’m not suprised there:-)
