This exact same thing happened in film and video. The explosion of video editing technology has led to literally millions of people editing all over the world.
“Jobs” aside, this brings up an interesting point. If “candlemaker jobs” are eliminated and “lightbulb jobs” are created it would seem that the real place to make money is on top of that professional job creation curve in the new ecosystem of consumer driven use of technology.
It’s not really an if / then, but one can easily see the technical progression from Photoshop hobbyists to Instagram and its filters to Snapchat and its face swapping.
