I’ve been at entrepreneurship and practicing design for over 20 years. I live and breathe design and design thinking. I have insane passion for solving complex problems.
I would call myself a holistic designer who is obsessed with commerce and the human experience.
I view the privilege of being a designer and business builder as sacred.
Solving pain, entertaining (or both) to the point where I can contribute to something useful that people pay attention to, invest their time in and gain value is how I view my role in the sacred act of commerce.
As entrepreneurs, as designers, as anyone with a serious dedication to craft and quality, we are simply servants to others.
I’ve chosen to base myself in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam for the last five years. This country has the fastest growing middle class in Southeast Asia. The people are overwhelming ambitious and kind. The entrepreneur expat community is off-the-charts and the weather is great.
Vietnam is in and of itself, a startup with little baggage attached to the Industrial Age narrative we’re currently closing the chapter on.
I love it here.
At heart, I’m just an old school skater dude that grew up on hardcore music, who graduated to electronic music, which is my current side-passion.
The values and ethics of those scenes have given me a unique calibration as a business person and mindful human being.
My list of personal interests run far and wide and my interests indirectly shape my mental model and practice of design.
I love science, network theories, technology’s transformational promises, food, wine, street photography, fashion, motorcycles, architecture, interior design, industrial design, hotel design, the wonders of human consciousness and cognition, surfing (I suck at it), boxing, basketball, martial arts, fitness, health, nootropics, psychedelics, data visualization, finance, economics, crypto-currencies, video-games, biology, cats, bad memes and I could go on.
A personal obsession of mine is jellyfish. Think biomimicry. The world around us is filled with nature’s designs and forms that when observed can lead to transformational thinking.
When we meet in person, I will fully explain.
Life’s too short to not be curious.
Stay curious, stay the course and be kind to each other.
You’ve got this.
If you’ve made it this far, I have a final thought to share.
Everything good that comes to me in life boils down to one thing:
The people I know.
By some act of the universe, I have a wife and life of amazing people around me. Why they put up with me, I don’t know.
