Homogenising design is not a good idea.
Homogenising design is not a good idea. I don’t think computers will ever get to the point that they will have our sensibilities. How can they? Even if they are programmed to have more human-like traits, that will be based on a team of developers using results from a survey. This won’t work as we respond to design in different ways that are so subjective. While I’m all for great UI/UX that’s intuitive, the beauty of design is that someone has put their ideas and experiences into the design and it’s a form of self-expression. It says something about an individual or company. It has personality. How can you develop your unique brand if it looks like every other website out there? If we take that away, we will have “functional” websites but with no personality or individuality; no unique brand identity. That is not progress in my book and I think most people feel the same even if they don’t realise it.
