The weight loss rip offs
It’s 2016 and across the world right now the Health and fitness industry is worth upwards of $84 Billion. The boom in health clubs, supplements, fitness gear, accessories and health foods is only going to get bigger.
Being a personal trainer and former very overweight bloke, I spend a lot of time researching all subjects from diet and nutrition to Psychology and human behaviour.
But something that I have noticed more and more lately is the cost of becoming healthier. If you listened to a lot of the industry, you would think you would have to go gluten, dairy, and carb free just to lose a bit of weight and become healthier. Because of this it becomes crazy expensive and people stop bothering to lose weight because they cant afford it
Does it have to be this way?
NO!

You don’t need to be gluten or dairy free unless you are intolerent to these things, it does not make you healthier to include these into your diet if your not intolerant, it just makes you out of pocket.
Tip 1 — Stop buying gluten and dairy free and just stick to the normal versions, this will save you a load of money because for some reason, gluten and dairy free foods seem to be a lot more exepsnive
Tip 2 — You dont need to go carb free to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit. Cutting carbs isn’t magical, it’s just calorie cutting. Save yourself the hassle of craving carbs all the time and just eat them and create a calorie deficit from cutting a bit of carbs and a bit of fat, and move around some more — hit 10,000 steps per day if you don’t already.
Tip 3 — Don’t buy herbalife, juice plus, aloe vera or any other stupid pyramid selling supplement program. It is just another way to part you from your hard earned cash. What happens when you buy these products? Well usually your told A) either not to eat or b) Replace 2 meals a day with some shakes….guess what happens?…..Yes, thats right, your dramitically cut your calories and you lose weight, nothing to do with the supposed ‘Health’ supplements your taking. No matter what the herbalife rep says to you.
Tip 4 — While paleo is a good way to eat more fruit and veg and get in some higher quality food, do you really think that the caveman had Paleo Bread, or Paleo protein Bars? No I dont think he did.
The problem with Paleo is that ancient man lived all over the world, so they wouldn’t have access to the same foods. So there could be a whole host of different paleo diets.
Paleo is also very expensive especially in meat, so save yourself some money again and dont bother going paleo (unless of course you love this way of eating and you have plenty of money to spend on food)
Bottom Line
There are plenty of ways to lose weight that dont require you to spend an arm and a leg to do it. The basic principle of weight loss and being healthy is a calorie deficit. There is a multitude of ways to do this, so dont get sucked into spending loads of money just to be healthy and to lose weight, it just isn’t needed.
Create a calorie deficit in the best way that you can stick to, that gives you the results you want, and don’t limit any food groups, as you will only crave them massively and binge on them at a later date anyway
