Finally, a good game!

Rick Porcello showed that he’s still got it, making it through 7 innings and only allowing one run. He was collected and steady, causing Nats hitters to ground out on almost every at-bat.

Mets’ defense was outstanding for a change. JD Davis made a fantastic stop and throw from third base, along with smart plays from almost everyone on the field, including the speedy Billy Hamilton, who the Mets just picked up.

It was the B squad out there with three of Mets starters, McNeil, Alonso, and Canó, all out with injuries. In past years, I’ve seen winning streaks start with the second-string players, so hope springs eternal.

The final score was Mets 3, Nats 1.

The team has a day off and then back to Citi Field to play the Marlins on Friday.

Well, the tropical storm had already passed DC by 7 o'clock this evening, allowing the Mets to lose another one, this time to the Nats. Steven Matz started and had one of his off, head-case nights, surrendering five runs before exiting the game.

My spirits lifted briefly as Michael Conforto…

The Mets finally won tonight. Jacob DeGrom took the mound in the wake of a vicious five-game losing streak and logged his first W of the season. Mets'offense finally overcame its aversion to producing with runners on base. Michael Conforto had a great go of it, as well as the…

Yoenis Céspedes is missing. He pulled what those of us who have worked in the service industry would refer to as a “no call, no show.” Somehow, the Mets organization has deciphered that his safety is not in jeopardy without knowing anything more than that.

Céspedes’ disappearance only highlights how…

Well, the wheels are falling off. The Braves beat the Mets 7–1 tonight, the humiliation coming particularly at the hands of Marcell Ozuna, Dansby Swanson, and Ronald Acuña Jr. Ozuna is one of the inexplicably traded Marlins outfielders who have gone on to greatness, along with Christian Yellich, and Giancarlo…

"What just happened?"

I hardly watched tonight, and I’m glad — what a soul crusher of a game. The Mets were up 10–5 at one point yet somehow managed to give it all away.

Being a Mets fan is heartbreaking.

Of course, it was a former Met, Travis d’Arnaud, who hammered the nail…

The view from my app as I checked in during the opening credits of Vera.

Well, today Trump, as we all knew he would, suggested that we postpone the election this fall because of COVID. The NBA season resumed and they all kneeled for the anthem (good for them). And the Mets, unsurprisingly, shat the bed.

Tonight the game was on Fox and the shittiness…

Met’s ace Jacob DeGrom took the mound tonight at Citi Field. He had shaved his quarantine beard and was as fun to watch as ever. Unfortunately, there was a fucking Geico stencil on the mound. I really hate that they have started advertising on the goddamn pitcher's mound. …

I saw Chris Hayes from MSNBC say on Twitter today that this strange sixty game season is meaningless unless the Cubs are good. That’s about how I feel, but subbing out the Mets for the Cubs. Tonight, the Mets have a winning record and my feelings toward this bizarro season…

The Mets took the bus to Boston to play the Red Sox tonight. It took one look at the empty seats of the stadium to realize that this was the least amount of racists ever at Fenway.

The proceedings feel pretty joyless in the light of the news from Miami…
