How Fiverr and Upwork are Killing Creatives

With so much ‘content’ being pumped out every single day by businesses, creatives, and influencers, we are now at a point where it is nearly impossible to grab the consumers attention.

Creatives who were once making lots of money and making a living off of their skills and expertise, have now been out competed by the Average Joe who owns an iPhone X and starts vlogging about their ideas. The influx of photographers and freelance writers has soared over the past few years due to the internet, saturating the market, making it harder for creatives to chase after their dreams of making a living doing the work they love.

Websites like Upwork and Fiverr have ruined the Creative Industry. They have dropped the market value of what a Creative’s time and expertise is work. And with technology getting better and better. It’s easier to replicate expert photography and writing skills.

However one content medium is still teetering on the edge of saturation. Video.

The one form of content that can’t be fully penetrated by the market saturation is video.

Why?

Let’s start with the term “video production”.

Let’s view these two advertisements. One is from Fiverr, the other is from WealthSimple.

In both ads, the video production quality is very different. But the average person may not think so.

Both are using high quality cinema cameras (most likely a Red or an Arri Alexa)

Both have actors, wardrobe, and voiceover.

So what gives?…Everything…
