Our brains have thrived in a world of infinite information since the invention of the printing press. Most of us couldn’t read all the books in the library, or even all the articles in the Sunday newspaper — we’ve learned to filter infinite information to focus on what we find interesting. Those same filtering tools are present when scrolling through a news-feed; scrolling past the cat photos and paying attention to an event my friend posted. As artificial intelligence becomes more advanced, our news feeds will become full of more relevant information; making it easier to find the information we find interesting. Information overload is real, but not as new as most people think. It’s not as bad as people think either.
