What’s With This Waterslide?

This dilapidated structure used to be the centerpiece of the family friendly Rancho San Rafael Park. However, after the recession hit, funding for the park was lost and the waterslide was shut down.
The beloved waterslide has been sitting in the middle of the park aging beyond repair.
Emily Fisher, a Reno native shared her feelings about the park’s current condition. “It's sad to see a place that was thriving when I was little become like a ghost town. There is so much potential here.”
People have been known to sneak past the “No Trespassing” sign and hang out around the abandoned slide.
People have been caught climbing up the slide and going down on old mattresses
The area around the slide is overgrown and full of trash and debris making it not only dangerous for people sneaking in but a liability for Washoe County.
There has been talk about tearing down the slide and replacing it was something else. The old waiting room for the slide has been filled with tractors for a possible museum. Another idea on the table is to turn the area into a farm exhibit.
So we bid farewell to an old friend.
