Three Years of Daily Blogging

1096 days ago I decided to publish an essay, outlining my plan to “write for 30 days, in a row.” Fast forward three years, blink a few times, and visit my archivesI have not missed a single day. Today marks essay 1096.

I emphasize that I am by no means a great writer and have no intention of every becoming a professional author or advice-giver or digital influencer of anything of that sort. I am weird!! Do not follow me.

I write as a vehicle for thinking — to exercise my brain. I write to explore ideas, synthesize conversations, and share stories.

I have no metrics. My site is not optimized. Most of the time, I get a very small amount of views on my posts. Sometimes, however, I get hundreds of thousands. I have no idea why. Some essays are long, others are short. Some suck. Others suck less.

It is hard for me to believe that I have been doing this for has been three years. A lot has happened in my life, and I only expect even more to change in the future.

The only constant in all of this is me, sitting at my computer, staring at a blank screen for some time, and then hitting publish.

I have no idea how much longer I will continue prioritizing this type of daily mental exercise. For now, I continue to hit publish. Thanks for reading.
