Joylent, the Dutch Soylent: Days 9 and 10
Friday & Saturday, July 25 — 26th, 2014
Friday Day 9 Breakfast: 8:10am
Day 9Weight: 204.8 Pounds. Wakeup time: 7:45am

A combination of a very busy day coupled with the fact I’m down to my last two bags of Joylent has forced me to cut down my intake to just one portion of Joylent a day until my month’s supply turns up. I ordered it last week and would’ve expected it to be here by now.
Friday Day 9 Lunch: 3:15pm

After I finished work, I had to go to the supermarket and at this point I was pretty hungry. Noting my dwindling supply of Joylent, rationing had to happen. So I bought some chicken and cold artichokes for lunch, preceded by a small pack of sushi.
Whilst quite nice, it cost me nearly 7 meals worth of Joylent for essentially two sittings, and after being on Joylent for a week, it really highlighted how inconvenient eating regular food was. A lot of cutting, transferring, cleaning up and so on for something I knew wouldn’t be hitting all of my recommended daily allowances.
Friday Day 9 Dinner: 8:00pm

Went out for a fancy meal with my girlfriend, which costed me about half a month’s worth supply of Joylent. It’s weird, thinking about food in terms of its Joylent equivalent, but I couldn’t help but start wondering. Now you’re thinking about hitting your daily requirements to keep your body functioning versus acutely being aware of the cost you pay for the ambience, social interactivity, brand and the quality of the food itself. The social ritual of food continues to fascinate me.
Saturday Day 10 Breakfast: 9:45am
Day 10 Weight: 205.7 Pounds. Wakeup time: 8:45am

We’re going away this weekend, but I’ll be bringing a meal’s worth of Joylent with me for tomorrow’s breakfast. I’ll be out for most of the day, so probably no updates until tomorrow.
