So Long, and Thanks for All the Workflows

Workflow Directory will no longer be updated. The site will remain available for an indefinite period of time but no further workflows will be added.

In September 2015, I launched Workflow Directory as a place for Workflow users to share their creations. Back then, the app’s built-in gallery was quite limited. It had no search functionality, very few workflows, and infrequently updated. Workflow Directory was my workaround to what I perceived as limitations of the gallery.

The Workflow team have been working hard to improve the gallery and, starting with Workflow 1.6, it has been completely overhauled. It now has features like search, user profiles, and a wide range of curated collections. It’s a fantastic update that makes it so much easier for users to find and share great workflows without needing to leave the app.

I always knew that the gallery could be updated at any time, making Workflow Directory redundant. In fact, I have always hoped it would, which is why I’m not in the least bit sad or disappointed about this announcement. Like all workarounds, Workflow Directory was something I only considered as temporary. Now that the limitations the gallery have been addressed, there’s no further need for a workaround.

I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed workflows to Workflow Directory, as well as everyone who has visited, linked to, or written about the site. I’d also like to thank the Workflow team for all of their hard work with both the app and the new gallery.

Although it’s the end of the road for Workflow Directory, I’ll still be creating workflows and writing about them on my blog at You can also follow me on Twitter.
