Thank you so much for writing this. I knew Rachel had a background in journalism but I didn’t know how intentional she was in her ongoing relationships with journalists.
I majored in journalism and had to do a lot of justification within the church regarding my choice of study. “You’re one of the good ones” was a favorite of…
Anne, thank you so much for your response! It’s crazy how much of a beauty pageant it is, when the point is supposed to be the dog’s conformation. I applaud you for ditching the skirt suits! Hopefully others will follow in your footsteps.
If you actually read my piece with nuance and understanding you would be able to answer your own question. Given that you’re going out of your way to comment on a piece months after it was written, I’m going to infer that you are more interested in trolling strangers than having an intelligent conversation. Thanks, though, for increasing my engagement. I appreciate it. Have a good one!
For someone who claims to care about holding to people to high standards, you should consider doing the same for yourself and the language you use when talking to strangers on the internet. I hope you’re having a lovely holiday season! Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for your response! I *am* a politically liberal Christian and I have definitely been following others like me who have been speaking out against Trump from the beginning. I wish I were as optimistic as you about the number of Christians opposing him being “sizable,” but one can only hope the tides will turn. The past few weeks in particular have been a doozy (i.e. Kavanaugh.)
You are 100% on point. My intention was certainly not to “carefully avoid” that issue, and I sincerely value you bringing it into the conversation. The white-patriarchy-in-the-media topic probably deserves its own article — there’s a lot to unpack there, unfortunately. Thanks for the call out, I really appreciate it!
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond consciously and courteously, Robert! The internet needs more people like you.
I want to start by saying I have never said, and will never say, that every aspect of the journalism industry is perfect. There are always improvements to be made, and I am more than happy to…
You have taken a lot of time to make assumptions about what I believe and what I know. None of those assumptions are accurate, but since you’re set on maintaining them I won’t bother arguing with you. I hope your determination to undermine the credibility of total strangers serves you well in life.
I’m a little confused as to how you view my piece as a “good read” while simultaneously trashing the professionalism of journalists, which is in direct opposition to everything I stated in my piece. Regardless, I appreciate your readership and your comment.
