WE WON MONIES!!! — 12/23/16

Well, by the far the biggest thing that has happened in the past week, and maybe the life of the company, is I WON SOME MONEY FROM THE PITCH COMPETITION!! In my last post, I was pitching later that day in the semi-finals. I received an email the next day saying I moved on to the finals. I then pitched in the finals against five other startup companies the following Wednesday (12/21). I left Pittsburgh to drive back to Northern Virginia for Christmas immediately following the pitch and received a call on the way saying I won some money. It was by far our biggest success to date and made me so happy/relieved/excited/grateful and so many other things. The other big thing that happened was a personal event, not a business one, but it still meant a lot to me. I made the professional ultimate frisbee team in Pittsburgh, the Thunderbirds! These two things were the absolute best way I could start Christmas break/end 2016/start 2017.

I also had the amazing opportunity to get on the phone with Coss Marte yesterday (ex-con and founder of ConBody) and pick his brain about business things. I’m feeling so fucking good right now it’s amazing. Not much else happened in the past week. My partner and I decided to move forward with buying a pre-built trailer. I found the one I wanted and spoke with the manufacturing company then passed it on to him finish up the buying. I don’t expect anything to happen in the next two weeks but it would be awesome if something does… We had one event last Sunday which was 100% a flop so that did not feel good about that. BUT then all this amazing stuff happened so I can’t even try to be sad. I also absolutely love being home. My best friends for life are my high school friends so getting to spend time with them is always a blessing. And, obviously, spending time with the family is for sure the best.

The one other notable thing that has happened is I sat down with a rep from a company called Foodee on Monday. They provide catering to corporate companies from local restaurants/businesses. It was a great meeting and she expressed real interest in having Revival Chili on their platform. It would be a great way to make some extra money since the truck is not going to be done until February (at the earliest) and to continue to make money after it’s done :).

Well that’s all for now, I hope everyone has an amazing holiday season :). This is most likely going to be my last post of the year. I hope everyone has a great New Year as well and has as good a start to 2017 as I’m going to have!
