Jab, jab. Post, post.
Saturday August 26th, millions gathered around TV screens for the fight said to be the fight of the decade. Americans rooting for an Irishman, and Americans for the future Hall of Famer. What does this fight have to do with social media marketing?

Hold on just a minute, I’m getting there.
There were no doubts that McGregor was clearly the underdog in this fight. Mayweather, a professional boxer since a child and McGregor a MMA fighter. Both amazing athletes for their sports and clearly good at sharing what they do and why they are the absolute best. In the months leading up to the fight, each fighter marketed themselves and why they thought they were going to win, and why one was better than the other. They created new fan bases and kept their loyal followers. But I’m not here to talk about the fight specifically or about who should or should not have won. The results are in and that’s it.
With social media marketing this is like this fight. You have to spend so much time fighting, training for those final jabs. Any person who’s put together an effective marketing campaign knows that it’s not what is said more of how it is said. You can have the best content in the world, but if you try and force a consumer into doing anything you will fail. Nobody likes being told what to do, you better believe they aren’t going to let someone dictate where their money goes.
In the end it doesn’t matter if some posts are body shots and the others a good punch to the face, as long as you are consistent. You have to be consistent and even have good content in your backpocket for the days when you don’t feel very creative. Someday someone is going to see what you’re doing and they are going to be the one to give you new juice, and refuel you.
“YES.” That sigh of relief that you had knowing that someone WAS watching. If you’re an underdog in your market, or just starting out. Keep training, keep positing, keep going. Who knows, you might even be able to get to the 10th round against a champion when no-one else could. ;)
