Point blank, this dude straight up said no to the Federal Bureau of Investigations. That’s pretty hardcore. He also did it on a dedicated page as opposed to a press release page.

Be clear this is not a celebration or endorsement of Cook’s actions. This is recognition of a debate that will play a likely part in our society for the next few decades. The conversation taking place now magnifies these issues of privacy.

Here’s a question that should spark some conversation: if section 215 of the Patriot Act not been amended, would Tim Cook have responded the same way?
