This is absolutely true. I’ve been in the field for the last 30 years and it’s exactly the way the article says. And let me tell you something. It’s only getting worst, because there is such information avalanche that is very difficult for anyone -and if we are talking about a beginner the situation is even uglier-, discerning what to learn and how to to do it properly.

Most companies are doing just wrong. Software is very serious stuff and requires lots of knowledge and experience. And yes, the whole thing is just discouraging for most developers.

I think it’s only worth it if you work for your own project, just yourself or maybe one or two more people. That works if do it right.
