Hola! I am Jorge Salem Suito and I am from Lima — Peru!! Before enrolling to a Master’s in Public Administration focusing in Development Practices at Columbia University, I worked at supply chain management and community relations in Peru and Chile at the construction of a US$6bn copper project at Anglo American. Prior to that experience, I was a Business Manager at a Microfinance institution in Guatemala and co- owned a high end craft company who exported crafts to the US and England. I hold a bachelor’s degree in International Political Economy from Colorado College.
Throughout my academic career and my professional experience, I have been drawn to solve and cooperate with the SDGs 1- No Poverty, 8- decent work and economic growth, and 10 — reduced inequalities. However, since arriving at Columbia University my passion for SDGs 6- clean water and sanitation and especially SDGs 7- affordable and clean energy. I am looking forward to refocus my professional career and attention after graduation towards this two goals.
This is because I consider that energy is paramount for resolving global warming issues. I believe that the sustainable energy issue has to be addressed from a market and political perspective. Both fronts have to be approached simultaneously. Below, is the picture of the start up, me and a cohort of collegues want to launch!

Water on the other hand, even though is not as a dynamic, market driven, and profitable is the foundation for human society. Still millions of people dont have access to piped water and if they do, there are more who suffer from water borne deseases.
