This might be a testable hypothesis. I am unconvinced; I think that intelligence is the ability to perceive (construct) causality, and that many abilities perceive time better than us. It is the perception of causality that gives us a very large expectation horizon, so we can do agriculture, and that allows us to construct and deconstruct complex machinery, including societies.
