My sword collection

In ancient Japan, swords were not mere weapons but the soul of the samurai warriors. This explains most of the Japanese culture revolves around the samurai warriors and their swords. In fact, the only people allowed to carry swords were these elite soldiers. The samurai swords were a symbol of personal honor and the social rank of the wielder in the society.

The samurai were elite members of the military and were required to adhere to Bushido, which simply means the ways of the warrior. Bushido was a code of ethics that guided these warriors and was associated with a number of values including integrity, compassion, loyalty, courage, and respect. The Bushido also highlighted values of living and dying in honor.

Other than Japan, its China who leads the world through its attractive ancient swords. Just like Japanese swords, swords from China are loved and searched by the sword enthusiasts. There are many famous Chinese swords but if i am going to add one in my beautiful collection then it would be none other than Zhanmadao.

Zhanmadao is one of those Chinese weapons which is single bladed. It is also called anti-cavalry sword. It is almost similar to Zanbatou as both of them were used to kill the cavalry-men. Both of these weapons are so sharp that they can hit hard their target on just one swing. It was started using during Song dynasty.

The sword is like a saber with broad and long blade. It’s easy with Zhanmadao for two-handed gripping due to the extended handle. It measures almost 200 cm in length. The handle itself is around 37 cm in length. This weapon was used to safe-guard and fight with cavalry soldiers. When we talk about forging, it somehow seems similar to Nagamaki. Its extended feature helps it to reach long distance and hit distant opponent. Even the blade of Zhanmadao measures about 150 cm which is perfectly ideal for cutting the target, even at distance.

Alike Japanese katana swords, Chinese swords also bears a legendary history. They display the bravery stories of historical brave soldiers and their memorable long wars. So considering all these features, you can understand why I chose this magical weapon as an additional gem to my collection.
