A quick afterchat picture

While I was in Melbourne, I decided to catch up with a few players who were attending Dreamhack. I’m a big fan of Apeks and casted a lot of their ECL games before they came to IEM Sydney as well as before they came to Melbourne.

I do remember their lineup when they picked Kyxsan from Bluejays and lost in the Blast.Tv Paris Major semi-finals to eventual champions, Vitality.

I organised a quick chat with Styko after Apeks secured their semi-final birth after a stunning CT side comeback against Aurora on Overpass.

Styko has aeons of experience under his belt in many different roles both inside and outside the server. He was one of the first Slovaks to join an international roster following in the footsteps of Guardian. Outside of the server, he has done a few interviews and ironically enough, one of his interviews was Guardian at the ECS Finals.

He was quite popular with the Australians as many fans came up to take photos with him. Myself included as per the photos above.

We discussed the Slovak scene in regards to both matys and the eLiVe who were in Fnatic and Sampi respectively. He mentioned that they were both going really well. He spoke highly of frozen as well in FaZe. He mentioned that they’re all in Malta now for ESL Pro League.

Styko praised Zero in particular. He believed that Zero was too good for CS2. He said that he had an amazing mechanical mindset not only within the game but outside of it. Styko mentioned that Zero does all the production for his videos for his Youtube Channel. He also produced Ashhh’s video with the smoke grenade that confused Virtus Pro.

Styko did wish to see more Czech/Slovak teams come into the scene rather than the players themselves going international. He believes that SINNERS and Sampi are doing great efforts in doing so.

We discussed the Paris Major where Styko was so focused on the game that he didn’t meet jL’s fist bump for a couple of seconds. He said that has happened a few times as he gets too focused on the game. He has even done that to his coach, mithR once.

Styko has been an important servant for CS not only on the server but off the server with his Demo Reviews on his Youtube Channel. His recent demo review, wonderful_y had recently been banned for Cheating by Faceit.

Styko said he had enjoyed Melbourne so far but Jet Lag had been his major nemesis. They went to the zoo very early and most of the animals weren’t in their exhibits. He said that they saw some giraffes and kangaroos.

He appreciated the crowd greatly and enjoyed how passionate they were. Styko had a few extra photos with the fans before returning to the hotel.

It was lovely to meet Styko after talking to him via Twitch when I was casting Apeks. I’m looking forward to his future as a player and to the next player who’ll get banned after he reviews their demos…
