Great Piece. I love Patagonia as well. Not only are they environmentally responsible, they also make top-notch products.

I also agree with the overall view of this article, but I do see an issue in the vote with your pocketbook argument.

In short form this is it:

Democracy theoretically and ideally gives each person one vote. No matter their economic status, health, etc…

To vote with your money you have to be able to afford the inflated cost until the market regulates itself. Some people have the luxury of being able to support their views with their money; most don’t.

That’s where regulation can accelerate the shift (carbon tax, etc…).

We should vote consciously with our money where we can, but we should also acknowledge that it’s a privilege not all can afford.
