This is the Best Way to Focus, Backed by Research
Patrik Edblad

One of the best ways I’ve found to limit attention residue is by strictly observing timers when I’m in work mode. I clear my desk of distractions, throw a timer on my screen, and set about doing nothing but the assigned task for the next 45 minutes. After a 5 minute break, I’m back at it.

Awareness of attention residue is what spurred this behavior. Nice article.
