What Does Local Marketing for My Small Business Look Like?
It’s a question I get asked weekly. “Joe, if I was doing it right, what does local marketing for my small business look like?”
Answer: “It looks like a whole lot more than what you’re currently doing for your local business, I can tell you that.” I say with a smile.
The truth is, most small business owners are overwhelmed already. They don’t know where to even start. They don’t know which social media platforms are “relevant” today, which they should ignore, and what they should be doing strategically to capture the local market’s interest.
I created a simple one-page local marketing mind map for businesses to get a snapshot of what all they should be doing — and yes, it’s a lot. But if you want to dominate your local area, you need to make time for marketing your business or hire someone to help you.
I always tell my clients, “You don’t have to be the best at marketing in the world. You just need to be the best at marketing in your local area, and the best of your competitors.”
