A Final Week in Ireland and an Itinerary Update

I am working on two real posts at the moment, which I am very excited about and will hopefully finish soon. But, it has been a while since I posted, and I realized I never actually posted a formal itinerary of my travels.

I arrived in Dublin in the morning on July 16th, flying overnight non-stop from Providence. Then I took a theatre course at the Lir Academy from July 17-August 11, staying in Dublin afterwards until August 15th to wrap a few things up and explore the city in earnest.

After leaving Dublin on the 15th, I headed south to Cork City for the afternoon and night. The next morning I left for the small coastal town of Kinsale. On the 17th, I took a very long bus trip to Doolin in County Clare on the west coast, near the Cliffs of Moher. The morning of the 18th, I went up on the Cliffs before catching a ferry that afternoon (during a mighty fierce storm) to Inishmaan in the Aran Islands, where I stayed for two nights. Then on the 20th, I took a ferry to Galway and stayed there for the night, my last in the Republic of Ireland, because I set out for Belfast in the morning.

Belfast was fantastic — my favorite city of the trip so far. I stayed from the 21st until the morning of the 24th, making sure I visited the Giant’s Causeway during my time in the North. And this morning, the 24th of August, marked my departure from the Emerald Isle to Glasgow in Scotland. I’m not entirely sure how long I will stay here — I’ll be using Glasgow as a base to see the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, as well as explore both cities proper, and then I’ll head north to the Highlands.

My heartfelt thanks goes out to Ireland for a wonderful 5+ weeks, and I’ll certainly be back sometime (preferably with a car), but I am extremely excited to explore Scotland!
