Award Winning Wine Tasting!!!
My second day in Cape Town the program that helped me figured out my travel was taking a group of people to Paarl for a wine and cheese tasting. I wasn’t going to say no so I hoped in the van. The drive itself was worth the trip as we got an excellent view of Table Mountain. After about an hour drive, we finally made it to Fairview Wine and Cheese. The Vineyard was beautiful, it was a little chilly but the sky was clear and the drive there had an amazing view of the mountains and country side. There was an awesome little Goat Tower, there was an adorable bridge for the goats to walk over. It was Goat heaven.

Inside was incredible the bar that the wine tasting took place on was unbelievable it was carved wood with an incredible lamp that was made to look like a tree branch arching over the whole table. The atmosphere itself was pretty bougie, but very welcoming. Our tasting would include 6 wines paired with 6 cheeses, all from the Fairview Vineyard, and goats. The first two were white wines with some interested cheese they were both pretty plan and if my memory is correct the first wine was a Sauvignon Blanc and the second was called Egar, which isn’t technically wine but is supposed to have antioxidants and very good for aging. The order of the next four wines is a little blurry but we have a Cabernet and Pinotage. Pinotage is a classic South African Wine is one of the wines that Cape Town and Stellenbosch is known for. Easily one of the better wines in the selection. The last two wines where a red and a white. The white was far to sweet for my tastes but tasted a lot better with the cheese. The Red was the Fairview Eenzaamheid Shiraz, apparently this is one of the wines that Fairview is known for it was a treat. Incredible first wine tasting and a great start to Cape Town’s Adventures.
