11 Josh.ai Partnerships from CEDIA 2017 That Are Changing the Game

* Updated 9/28/17 to include Access Networks.

Josh.ai partners with the best companies in the industry to bring luxury voice control to each component of home automation. Being platform agnostic, we are able to expand our reach to control every part of the home — “Hey Josh turn the lights on everywhere, open the shades 50% and watch Family Guy in the Living Room.”

Many of our industry partners had booths at the CEDIA 2017 in San Diego, showcasing new advances in cutting-edge technology.

1. Lutron

Our integration with Lutron was one of the first we built for Josh, and we were proud to be showcased as premier voice control experience in their luxury room and the Lutron CEDIA booth. Their Josh system demo’ed voice control of their Homeworks QS lighting and shades, including their new Palladiom line. Dealers were impressed with how easily they could control an environment with their own voice🗣💡.

2. Sonos

Leave it to Sonos to stir up a bit of controversy at the CEDIA show. The company turned a few heads when it decided to forego the traditional CEDIA floor booth and, instead, set up an off-site loft to show off what’s new with home sound systems. We love working with the Sonos team to enable deep-linking of music commands — “Hey Josh, play Closer by the Chainsmokers in the Kitchen. Make it louder 🔊.”

3. Nest

For the first time in the pro channel, Google and Nest joined forces as a united front to serve the smart home industry. Josh also has joined forces with Nest for natural control of your HVAC at home — “Josh, it’s cold in here🌡.” Josh also integrates with Nest Cams to always have an eye on your home while away.

4. Control4

In addition to hosting fun networking events that bring together thousands of dealers, manufactures, and industry friends, Control4 works well with Josh to create a powerful voice experience. Josh has a Control4 driver that can enable natural voice control of Control4 scenes, lights and more without the need to hardcode commands!

5. Snap AV

We informally give the award for best accessory at CEDIA to SnapAV, with 20,000 people walking the show floor with a Snap AV branded lanyard around their neck📿. Among other Snap AV devices, Josh works with their Luma cameras to quickly keep an eye on your house whether home or away using our app.

6. Sony

When it comes to IP controllable TVs that are also dealer friendly, Sony is the brand that stands out. The Josh integration comes complete with functionality to voice control switching on/off, volume control and input switching. The Sony booth is always a must-stop as they display amazing 4K products and this year they unveiled a new projector as well as the stunning Bravia OLED TV shown below 📺.

7. Global Cache

Josh communicates with everything in the home over IP, but every now and then we need to communicate with devices that still use legacy protocols such as IP and RS232. This is where Global Caché comes in. The Global Caché products are a valuable part of our ecosystem when working with TV brands other than Sony. The hardware connects any IR device to an IP network, for example, to enable a highly reliable voice control experience for the entire home.

8. Steinway Lyngdorf

We are always happy to work with luxury systems that provide delightful experiences to end-users, and Steinway Lyngdorf is a natural partner in that regard. The company strengthened its CEDIA presence this year with a mix of product showcases, booth demonstrations and in-depth trainings. Most importantly, it announced seamless integration with all control platforms, including Josh.ai, which can control its high-end subwoofers and amplifiers with voice 🎶.

9. Meridian

Long time partner Meridian Audio also had a great show at CEDIA this year. The company celebrated its 40th Anniversary in style at the show by winning three prestigious awards for its ground-breaking 271 Digital Theatre Controller and 251 Powered Zone Controller. We were proud to feature Meridian’s 5200 speakers in our booth for the second year in a row. They not only provide a super high-end audio experience, but they are also really nice to look at 👀🌟.

10. Aprilaire

Integrator friendly Aprilaire had a booth at CEDIA to display its 8840 Wi-Fi Climate Controller with complete HVAC and IAQ. The Aprilaire team makes quality thermostats that our integrators like to install for comprehensive integrations, and we are proud to partner with them.

11. Access Networks

No matter how many integrations we build, if the network in the home is not solid, the user will have a bad experience. Access Networks is a leading provider of advanced, enterprise-grade, plug-and-play networking solutions for the automated residence, and we are proud to count them as a trusted partner. Access Networks powers the Josh.ai HQ in Denver and CEO Alex Capecelatro’s personal home.
