Yeah — great question about these sort of viral flows when someone signs up and are just prompted to blindly invite (and perhaps even spam) their friends. Those sometimes are able to drive great viral numbers and growth. People upload their contacts, messages go out that are highly tuned to drive response, and new users sign up and get caught up in the same flow and trick.

But rarely do these lead to durable engaging growth because the sender didn’t really mean to invite the recipient and they don’t necessarily engage further on the platform.

Let’s call this blind virality. Since really the users are pretty blind to the intent behind spreading the message.
