The key idea of a “front door” is that you expect something to come and you seek it out if it does not. The newspaper used to be delivered to your actual front door daily, and I remember plenty of times my parents calling the paper if delivery did not happen properly.
This applies whether you go directly to a front page, or respond to a daily email newsletter, or daily push notification to an app. We tend to think this applies less well to viewing in your Facebook or Twitter feed (“subscribers”) because there are so many things there, you may not seek it out if you missed it.
