Thanks Andy Wilson @awcamera. I appreciate the dissenting opinion and you’re not the first to take issue with this stance. I get that it’s a bit of a zag to how people normally talk about photographs, but I also think it’s worth exploring. I guess the theoretical question I have for you is whether you make any distinction at all between content that necessitates context (I.e. something to fill in the missing pieces, like the surrounding event or one’s imagination) vs content that plays out the context. And if you do make that distinction, then what is the difference in your mind between a scene and a story?
