Would You Like to Email Me?
For my LinkedIn connections: If we’re connected on LinkedIn, I’m totally cool with you sending me an email about something you **sincerely** think I’d find valuable. However — and this is a BIG however, it had better be (a) super relevant and (b) a one-off email.
If you add me to a list for your newsletter or a lead nurturing sequence or other mass broadcast, I may not always unsubscribe or remove our LinkedIn Connection. But in most cases, I’m adding you to a filter/folder for low-priority messages.

You may not think this is a problem, but here’s the rub: Do you know what graymail is? I didn’t know what graymail was either until a few months ago.
Graymail means that your messages are making it through to the Inbox, but aren’t being opened. The problem? The major email service providers (ESPs) know that most of your email messages aren’t being opened.
This hurts your deliverability…a lot.
So much so — that leading marketing SaaS/email platforms now by default suggest that their customers suppress people that haven’t opened your last 10 messages.
As my LinkedIn connections crossed the 10K mark recently, I had to give this some thought because the volume of reasonably well-intentioned emails I get from my LinkedIn connections really spiked up.
The bottom line: Whatever you think/thought you know about email marketing and social selling may no longer be accurate. Here’s a tip: You can get free access to a 90-minute workshop I did on LinkedIn Social Selling here.
