I am super interested in AR from an artistic (installations in AR like 110 stories app) as well as usability aspect (realtime searching and indexing on visual data to pull up information about viewed objects), but the advertising possibilities you describe sound down right dystopic and a return to all the issues of old web browsing that have been stamped out by adblockers and pop up blockers. I’d much rather pay a subscription service fee to an app/library company to use the product (or a per use search charge) then have my field of view littered with unavoidable advertisements.
