What about the drop-off/pick-up locations issue?

I think it was a big mistake for the petition to include those other provisions instead of focusing on just the fingerprinting question. This whole thing was brought on by the fingerprinting question, and it would be more black-and-white if that’s all that was in it.

I hate when people pull over in the lane, for any reason. Especially during rush-hour!

However, I’m not sure how else you could expect TNCs (and taxis which are in the same situation) to do anything else. They have to drop people off somewhere… maybe in the future we can designate a “dropoff spot” on each block that takes up one or two parking spaces.

So it’s hard for me to take a strong stance on that one, but I don’t think in the grand scheme of things it outweighs the larger 3 issues of:

  1. TNCs have reduced drunk driving collisions by 23%
  2. More than 10,000 drivers will lose their jobs if Prop 1 fails
  3. We’re destroying our reputation as a global innovation hub and putting the $50 million smart cities grant at risk.
