The Bubsy Video Game Series returns to the horror of gamers everywhere…

Before June 7th, I thought the Bubsy series was dead. For those who never grew up with Bubsy series, consider yourself lucky. The protagonist was annoying Bobcat with an explanation point on his shirt, and the games were based on platforming. The first games, (Bubsy in Claws Encounters of Furred Kind, Bubsy 2, and Bubsy: Fractured Furry Tales), were all 2D platform games. They also ranged in difficulty from hard, to extremely hard. These weren’t memorable, but mediocre to somewhat pointless compared with other games of the time. Still, they had some humor, and some appeal. However, the game that finally killed the series was Bubsy 3D, (or Bubsy is 3D on Furrbitten Planet), which was released in North America on November 26, 1996, and August 1997 in Europe. The game is widely considered by gamers in 90’s as one of the games ever made for the PlayStation, if not the worst game ever made, period. I am one of the unfortunate few who got to play, and wished I never did. The controls were awful, not to mention stiff, jumping in impossible, Bubsy voice was downright ear grating, the music was hideous, the graphics were vomit inducing, and the hit detection was worthless. Oh, and the camera was honesty looking for another game to depict. With that game, Bubsy was dead, and series ended; Thank Goodness. Or so we thought. On June the 6th of 2017, (a date we shell not forget), a new trailer announced the game Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back. Upon seeing this trailer, my face turned pale, then green, as my heart sank deep into my chest, and the memories of the horrors of the past PS1 game began to fester inside me. “This is really happening.” I thought to myself. Then I began to question why anyone would to bring the series back from the grave! In the trailer, the voice actor sounded just as hideous as the voice actor in Bubsy 3D!! The trailer was pathetic, and looked quite bad. After watching it, I began to feel pity. I wondered, does Bubsy deserve a second chance? Well, in my case, no. He left a terrible taste in my mouth. But, who am I to say? Bubsy might even become the next Sonic. What am I saying?? More likely then not, like all the other Bubsy games, it’ll be a train wreak, and gamers will be left to pick up the pieces!! So, as this day ends, we can only hope this is a joke. However, we can only realize it’s not a joke, it’s a nightmare coming back to hunt us..
