JAMB announces changes for candidates taking the Direct Entry (DE) examination
Starting in 2024, JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) announced changes for candidates taking the Direct Entry (DE) examination. The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, shared this information during a virtual meeting with education commissioners from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Beginning in 2024, JAMB will introduce an Aptitude Test for all Direct Entry candidates. This test aims to assess their academic potential, career suitability, and mental or physical capacity. Unlike traditional subjects like Mathematics or Chemistry, this intelligent test will focus on measuring cognitive skills.
The Aptitude Test will cover Verbal, Abstract, Mechanical and Numeric Reasoning, Data Checking, and Work Sampling. It’s designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of a candidate’s abilities.
Furthermore, the Direct Entry registration process will now be exclusively conducted at JAMB Offices nationwide. During registration, candidates must furnish details such as the Registration/Matriculation Number of the previous school attended, subjects of qualification, awarding institution, institution attended, year of graduation, and admission letters where applicable.
In summary, JAMB is implementing changes for Direct Entry candidates, introducing a new Aptitude Test from 2024.
