I agree with your objections, but this problem is something that we are already contending with in the current models. If we had enough vertical farms it would actually reduce the costs of the current problems of transportation because the food would be closer to the consumer. We waste so much energy with the present logistics. If we sold food from the vertical farms without packaging that would reduce waste and turn farms into storefronts. That would be a major game changer on a number of different levels. Nonetheless I see what you are saying. There are going to be problems no matter what we do though. I just think vertical farms would be a much better approach.
