The Not-Too-Distant Future

(Or So I Hope)

Soon our personal cars will all be replaced by self-driving electric taxis hailed with smartphone apps. This shift will reduce pollution and the amount of traffic accidents. Not to mention that cars spend most of their time parked, so we will end up doing away with parking lots too. Cities will remove streetlights and parking spaces and pedestrians will have more room to walk and bike and the streets will actually be safe for people to travel on. Electric charging stations will replace gas stations. The air will even be cleaner to breathe with less emissions and more trees around.

The future will also be full of robots. Along with the self-driving cars to help get us places, many people are going to have companion androids to help them with their diseases and disabilities. Everything will be automated. There will be drones bringing us packages and patrolling through the aftermath of disasters searching for survivors and so much more.

Along with this, artificial intelligence is going to reach an all-time high. In the not-too-distant future we are going to see far more smart devices…I mean really smart devices. Supercomputers will soon be the norm. Machine learning algorithms are also going to lead to a revolution in ethics, because we are going to have to grant person-hood to a whole new class of beings.

Everyone is also going to start using more and more renewable energy as time goes on, as well. This means we can expect to see far more wind and solar farms coming very soon. Advancements in technology are making solar cells more and more affordable, so the price will inevitably make them more cost efficient than fossil fuels. This is going to help clean up the environment and keep the future going for a long time to come.

All in all, the point that I am trying to make is that we face a really bright future full of technological marvels and medical breakthroughs that will improve the quality of life of billions of people for generations on end. With that being said, I look forward to seeing it all unfold…
